Waste Management

Monday is usually our refuse collection day with black bins for household rubbish collected one week and green bags and blue bins a week later. Brown bins that are used during the summer for garden waste may also be used in the winter months for recyclable materials. This week though the routes have been reorganised and our collection day will now be Thursday each week. Other areas of the town too will have their rubbish collected on a different day but it was obvious this morning that the message had not been received by everyone.

Bags and bins will probably now be lining the streets for another three or four days and I bet the Council were inundated by phone calls this afternoon asking why the rubbish had not been collected. Notification about the changes was achieved by attaching self adhesive labels to the bins last week but some of them did not adhere too well, rolled up and became detached - thereby creating more rubbish on the streets. Surely that's a "lesson to be learned" as they say in waste management.
